OUR STORY
KMNY's Chérie Mee - Translating to Darling Me
A place to create unapologetically.
The creation of KMNY’s ready-to-wear fashion line was born from a unique and inspiring journey between a teacher and her student. Designer Sena Akca, participated in design classes through her high school BOCES program under then Design Teacher, Kerianne Meehan whom runs her own Atelier. During this time, Akca participated in a design internship through Meehan’s design company. What began as an internship for industry experience and class credit grew into a mentorship grounded in trust, creativity, and shared ambition. Over the years, Akca grew into her role as Assistant Designer and not only honed her craft but also proved her passion and dedication to the fashion industry.
As Akca graduated from design school at the collegiate level, it became clear that her vision—particularly her interest in ready-to-wear fashion—deserved a platform to shine. Inspired to expand and wanting to support, elevate that voice, and give her student another homework assignment for old times sake - Meehan, saw an opportunity to create something together that blended experience with fresh perspective. Inspired to grow and create something that tapped into our inner creativity - This collection is the result: a collaborative line designed not just by teacher and student but designer and designer - a line that introduces the next generation of talent, infused with unique design sensibility, while rooted in the quality and craftsmanship that first brought them together.
This line is more than just fashion—it’s a celebration of growth, mentorship, and the beauty of creating together.
"I've worked for many design houses and been behind the scenes in building many beautiful creations. Now running a brand myself, I think it's truly important to give credit to those who help the heart beat. Nurture those who treat your dream like their own and grow together. They are rare and hard to find. Buying from us here, you are supporting dreams outside the every day norm, supporting freedom to create in a way that feeds the soul, and supporting growth of the next generation of talent"
